Well I think #I'll get the ball rolling.
I will list the three industry leaders and why they are strong:

GW - They started it, they got fluff and models, as well as ripping off every aspect of movies, literature and television that exists.

MP - Just look at the Starship Troopers system. Good rules.

PP - They have cool: miniatures, rules and fluff.

So, for success the following two options must be considered:

1) Licensed games.
2) Redback's own stuff.

I believe that option 1 is easiest. For option two a lot of resources need to be put into one thing to start, just look at the history of Warhammer and Warmachine.

My focus is on miniature games, but I like Role-playing, and don't think Card Games or Board Games are a way to go.

I don't want to start a fights but I think the key to success is to create new , fresh and innovative worlds/systems/other for games.

Here are my ideas for games:

Miniatures:
1 - A Combat system game (I was thinking Jedi Knights running around with Lightsabers but a Licence for that is impossible. That general thing though.

2- A Skirmish (Inquisitor/GOMC 1) game involving factions of Devils, Vampires, Werewolves and humans. Think of all the fights in underworld and video games like Devil May Cry.

3 - World War 2 - A World War 2 Game with a twist. I want to say more but I think this idea is good and afraid It'll be stolen.

4- A Redback unique Sci - Fi game.

5 - As above but Fantasy.

6 - A Fifth Element game. Maybe akin to Space Hulk.

7 - A Gundam Wing or similar robot combat game (akin to battletech with larger figures and a simpler game system.

8 - A Fantasy Feudal Oriental game would be cool. Not quite Legend of Five Rings, not quite Grouching Tiger.

9 - Battle Royale. If you saw the movie or read the comics you know what I mean.

10 - I have a few others but cannot remember offhand.

Anyone got comments?

the main issue with any licenced type of game is that you need to be estabilished to try and compete for them, and if a company such as Mongoose Publishing is saying to expensive(Alien vs Predator), then you have to wonder how much they are asking for?

The Underworld system presents the same issues as the new game system, alot of work needs to be done, the other issue is that not enough is seen, and as for Nightwatch, that would be skirmished(GOMC1) based, but until i have more access to the source, and not just the movie, i can't make a call on whether I can develop it as head developer.

WW2 games are fine as is, at least what i have seen and played, little can be done in the genre without stepping on everyone elses toes. It would have to something special, and if you have ideas post them as that is the only way i can comment on the proposal.

As for robots, if the Heavy Gear licence was due, I would have a go at that if i could, but apart from that most other games of that type disappear into the dark corner of Niche, and to start a company you need something that sells.

As for own settings, already organised on two fronts, and remember that Warhammer 40K started out as Rogue Trader, and a system before that, so they built up to modern 4th Ed.

Fifth Element, could be interesting, would need to see a proposal.

Right now, at the minute the core rules for two Red Back Sci-Fi are covered, with fleet and army list creatin that needs to be finalised, then when i have the backing to do so, off to the printers press and into teh boxes and out to the suppliers.

Battle Royale, interesting, again need to seea proposal.

Firstly, read the Signs and Portents, while Mongoose started out within a system, they produced the guide/text/book solo, and so that is often the better way to start out.

I'll work on Battle Royale and Fifth Element.
Now that you mention Signs and Portents do you think an online magazine would be fun to produce?
You could call it something cool, I thought of "Tooth and Nail" but I just think too many biologists would get confused if they read it.
And maybe put a link to it on the Forum too.

I had an idea for a WW2 game not long ago.

I was thinking a squad-level combat with rules for supressing fire, close combat etc.

I'm working on an RPG called Second World War. My wife is very up on WWII history and we are constantly collecting books and videos on this genre. It has it's own game mechanics unique from those many know, but designed to fit the period from about 1930 to about 1950.

Unlike many RPGs, all PCs are part of a squad or team of from 3 to 12 individuals. This is to similate the brotherhood and patriotism intrinsic to this war. A single player would play all the roles of this group. Players that are journalists would be attached to a squad while at the front. Individuals cut off from the group would be required to find the main group ASAP. Whenever a group is reduced to 2 individuals, they must either get back to HQ or attach to another group. 3 players could play a platoon and 6 players could be a company.

This is not going to be geared towards any kind of miniature game, but can, of course, use minis to show what the situation is. I plan to use 20mm (HO scale), just because there are a lot of stuff for this scale, and because buildings and such are vital to many scenarios. Also, movement and such are not done on squares or anything of the sort. Positioning and Engagement rules are key to how combat is conducted, not which square or side you are on.

It is not the purpose of the game to simulate large scale battles, but more on the line of special missions. Think "Saving Private Ryan." That's more of what this is about.

So what do you think of that?

get it abit more fleshed out and i'll have a look.

it does look interesting, however, MP does have Stalingrad on the books, and it would be difficult to compete with that.

okay, I'll post these in the general discussion forum as well.

Proposals,
What I need,
The system's name and what it is, ie a Fifth Element RPG.

How you see the system working, ie is a D&D type system, or something else.

Ideas you have for factions/units etc.
